WELCOME TO SKIMECCA
The MECCA Cross-Country Ski Trails are located in the town of Mercer, Wisconsin. They run across a combination of State, County, Town, and private lands. There are approximately 18 Km of trails groomed for classic and/or skate skiing. Trails are groomed by volunteers, as conditions allow. Hiking, snowshoeing, and dogs are allowed only on the untracked portions of the trails.
The trails are also open for hiking and mountain biking in the spring, summer, and autumn.
The daily trail-use donation suggestions are $8 per adult, $5 per child, $1 per dog, or $20 for however many people you have in your car.
Unfortunately, our NPO status lapsed. For the 2011-2012 membership year, dues and donations are not tax deductible.
2012.01.28 -- CANDLELIGHT SKI
The eleventy-third Candlelight Ski will be held this coming Saturday... January 28th, 6-9pm. Follow the ice candles out from the US 51 & FF intersection to the Little Turtle Trailhead.
There will be a bonfire at the trailhead with a couple greeters waiting to answer any questions. One mile of trail will be lit by candle luminaries from the trailhead to the old cabin. Ski or snowshoe out to enjoy chili, popcorn, cookies, hot cider, and a roaring fire.
The current weather forecast is for a January thaw later this week. There will be a waxing crescent moon in the southwest sky, a little more than halfway from Venus to Jupiter.
